A 23-minute listen.

Annabel Brodie-Smith, communications director at The AIC, visited the Octo studio to talk Gary Shepherd through the opportunity for closed-ended funds when illiquidity in open-ended funds is again in the headlines.

Annabel tells us about The AIC’s plans for the summer, including extensive research into the barriers into advisers recommending investment companies, which will be part of its response to the FCA’s consultation on RDR.

She asks: “Is it actually at the adviser level? Is it at the firm level? Is it the service providers or platforms? Is it to do with risk ratings? We are trying to get behind those issues, and we will obviously be using that research to feed into our RDR response to the FCA”.

Among other issues, Annabel also talks through The AIC’s recent sector revamp, reflecting a 92% growth in members’ investment in alternative assets over the past five years. She also reflects on ongoing work on improving KIDs – something she spoke with Lee Robertson about last year.
