A longer listen.

In this exclusive podcast, Ben Gutteridge, head of fund research at Brewin Dolphin, talks me through the need to see a “consistency of approach” from fund managers.

He outlines his concern that some of the industry’s ‘star’ names are “making investment decisions that seem contrary to the way in which they have built their career.”

Ben also gives his views on the disappointing performance of some of the “headline acts” in the absolute return sector, and suggests that Japanese equities could be an interesting growth story for the future.

In light of MiFID II, Ben also shares why he thinks fund groups are doing enough to outline costs, but that performance fees can still cause problems.
