A 25-minute listen.

While we may not be able to access our studios presently, that doesn’t mean we can’t carry on with podcasts.

Ben Yearsley was kind enough to give me some time to talk about why advisers’ client portfolios will be much more insulated to falls than what we’ve seen from the “horror headlines” on the FTSE 100.

He also gives his views on how both advisers and fund groups can communicate better with clients during times of crisis, and outlines why he’s bearish on the future for property funds.

Ben also talked about the future for ESG and why people “get too wound up” about passive versus active.

“There are cases for both and what will happen once we’ve come through this is it will help people realise what asset classes are good for active and passive,” he says.

“I think bonds, for example, should have no real place in the passive world because at the moment if you’re buying a passive bond fund, you are buying companies that are potentially failing and you’ve got no choice about it.”
