A 28-minute watch.

Sean Banks is an adviser with Premier Wealth Planning and a co-host of popular podcast, Adviser Gap. Chatting to Lee Robertson in the coffee booths, Sean gives his thoughts on regulation, investing, the business, his podcast, and what he’s be proud-of in his career.

Having worked his way through the “modern” pathway of planner through to adviser, Sean is well placed to see the difference between the “financial advice industry and the financial planning profession”. Grasping this difference has been a point of pride, and he believes “holistic life planning is the way forward” – “I’m not interested in just selling products, I want to go deeper with clients”.

In order to provide a great service to clients, Sean and Premier Wealth are also big believers in qualifications and learning. This belief has led to Adviser Gap, a podcast aimed at helping young planners who may be asking themselves “with a technical background, where do I go to make that jump to be competent and confident with advisers”.

Also in the interview, Sean explains why regulation at the moment feels like “business prevention” and why investments need to “adapt to clients”.

We have lots off adviser focused content posted on the app every week. Recently, we had Steve Martin on why ‘in anything in life, you can’t be too curious’, and Sam Shaw’s Octo Outside podcast with Beckford James’ Joe Maguire on seeing it was time to get back to some ‘good old-fashioned financial planning’.
