A short watch.

In this exclusive video, Christine Cantrell of BMO Global Asset Management talks Sam Shaw through the changing landscape for ETFs, as well as current sales trends.

Christine stresses that there are multiple reasons for the attraction of ETFs from different intermediary groups.

She believes that even five years ago there was still a “taboo” that discretionary managers and advisers weren’t exclusively selecting active funds, while the conversation has since moved on to which segments of a portfolio is money allocated to active, and which to lower-cost solutions.

Christine also touches upon the de-risking and profit taking that occurred during the first few weeks of the year, and the continued rise of smart beta.
