In the latest in our investment podcasting series, Karis Stander, managing director at Investment 20/20, tells us about her organisation and the great initiatives it is working on to diversify the pool of talent available to investment managers.
Karis touches upon the difficulties that graduates and school leavers face in the current climate with less available roles given the economic uncertainty, but also shares ideas on the way forward in freshening up the face of financial services.
“I think there is an understanding that while the recruitment process will be different while we’re in a virtual world, we are learning new skills in terms of how to make this happen and there are benefits to it as well,” she explains.
“Ultimately, do we want to be in a position where we are not bringing in new talent? What is the impact going to be from a business perspective? I think we have learnt lessons from looking back at the last recession with all recruitment at a graduate and school lever level having a big impact.
“Keeping this going is really important. Covid and Black Lives Matter have really made employers think about how they recruit, who they are recruiting, and the diversity of their workforce and if they are doing enough about that”.
