Former Investment Quorum chief executive Lee Robertson has teamed up with a number of industry heavyweights to launch an app-based online forum for the financial services community.

Octo Members Group was co-founded by ex-Janus Henderson global head of marketing Rob Page, former Financial Express head of new business Jon Rocchi and Andy Brown, investment director at Prudential Portfolio Management Group.

Robertson (pictured), who stepped down from Investment Quorum last month, will serve as managing director.

With the tagline of ‘connect, share, engage’, Octo will enable its members to access ideas and join in debates on investment, retirement and financial planning.

Robertson said: ‘We have built Octo Members with the financial services community, particularly advisers, at the forefront of our thinking.

‘We exist purely to facilitate informed debate between the professional adviser community and product providers and with the aim of enhancing investor outcomes.’

Robertson in August handed over control of his wealth and advice boutique following a buyout of his stake by his fellow directors.

The deal was led by Petronella West, director of private clients, chief investment officer Peter Lowman and Nicholas Rolf, a wealth manager at the business.

Robertson departs after 18 years leading the company, with West (pictured) taking over as CEO. He will continue consulting at the firm for a number of weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

‘It feels about the right time. I’ve run it for 18 years and I like growing and building businesses rather than running them,’ he said.

‘Deciding to step down as the strategic leader of the firm has been an incredibly difficult decision to make. I have been privileged to serve our clients, many of whom have been with us since the outset or for many years.’
